This course will introduce participants to the foundational mindfulness meditation practices, which emphasize becoming grounded in the present moment. The skills learned in this course can help participants reduce stress, find balance, and increase self-compassion. We will begin with mindfulness of breathing, followed by mindfulness of the body, emotions and thinking. We will integrate loving kindness techniques throughout. The skills taught will include:
- Breath Meditation
- Body Scan
- Guided Imagery
- Labeling of Thoughts
- Labeling of Feelings
- Loving Kindness Meditation
This is open to those interested in trying meditation for the first time, long-time practitioners looking to refresh their practice, and everyone in-between. We will work with the Insight Meditation style, which is secular and open to everyone. More information on mindfulness meditation is available
here.
Please bring a cushion or pillow to sit on. Chairs will be available if that’s your preference.
