In Shoedog, George Pelecanos delivers a raw and atmospheric thriller that traces the journey of Constantine, a young man without roots who finds himself stranded on the margins of 1980s America. Drawn into a world of small-time crime, fast cars, and dangerous choices, Constantine crosses paths with a rich cast of vivid, flawed characters — and finds himself forced to confront his own conscience and future.

A powerful story about loyalty, regret, and redemption, Shoedog highlights Pelecanos’s ability to illuminate the human side of crime and those living on society’s edge.

Join us for a rich conversation about this classic from one of Washington, D.C.’s greatest novelists. All are welcome — whether you’ve finished the book or just want to learn more.
